Where Do Adenostoma Plants Grow?

Both Chamise and Red shank are native to California and Baja California. This means they naturally grow in these areas. You can find them along the coast.

Chamise (Adenostoma fasciculatum) also grows inland. It is found in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California. These plants are important parts of the California chaparral and woodlands ecoregion. This ecoregion is a type of habitat with dry summers and mild, wet winters.

What Do Adenostoma Shrubs Look Like?

Both types of Adenostoma shrubs have special features. They have stiff, narrow leaves. These leaves can grow in different ways. Some leaves are arranged one after another along the stem. Others grow in small groups or clusters.
