Adina Izarra (born 1959) is a talented Venezuelan musician, teacher, and composer. She creates many different kinds of music.
About Adina Izarra
Adina Izarra was born in Caracas, Venezuela. She loved music from a young age. She studied music with Alfredo del Mónaco in Caracas. Later, she earned her Ph.D. in composition from York University, England, in 1988. Her teacher there was Vic Hoyland.
After finishing her studies in 1988, Adina Izarra returned to Caracas. She became a professor of composition at Simón Bolívar University. From 1999 to 2001, she was part of a special group called the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM). This group helps new music around the world.
Today, Adina Izarra lives in Guayaquil, Ecuador. She teaches at the University of the Arts. She works with "live electronics," which means using computers and electronic sounds in her music. She also creates "audio-reactive visuals," which are images that change with the music.
Adina also performs in a duet with Rubén Riera. He plays old and new string instruments. Together, they create their own music and play old songs. They often use electronics to make the old music sound new and exciting.
