Adina Elizabeth Porter is an American actress known for her many roles on TV. She has appeared in popular shows like True Blood, The 100, and Outer Banks. Adina Porter is also famous for playing different characters in the American Horror Story series.
She started her acting journey on stage, winning an award called the Obie Award for her play Venus in 1996. Later, she performed on Broadway, which is a very famous theater area in New York City. For her work in American Horror Story, she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award and two Saturn Awards. These are big awards in the entertainment world.

Adina Porter was born and grew up in New York City, New York. She went to college at the State University of New York at Purchase. Her very first acting teacher was a famous actress named Butterfly McQueen. Adina Porter has two children with her second husband, Larry Earl Madison Jr.
Starting Out in Theater
Adina Porter began her acting career in live theater. She performed in many plays both off-Broadway and in regional theaters. Some of her off-Broadway plays included The Debutante Ball and Jersey City. In 1996, she won an Obie Award for Distinguished Performance by an Actress for her role in the play Venus.
Her first time acting on Broadway was in 2001. She was in a play called The Women. She also performed in several shows at the New York Shakespeare Festival.
Adina Porter on TV and in Movies
Adina Porter started her screen career with guest roles on TV shows. These included dramas like Law & Order, New York Undercover, and NYPD Blue. She had a regular role as Gwen Walker in the NBC show American Dreams from 2002 to 2003.
She made her movie debut in 1992 in a film called Swoon. She also had small parts in movies like The Peacemaker (1997) and Gia (1998). In 2005, Adina Porter played Ricky in the TV movie Lackawanna Blues for HBO. She won a Black Reel Award for Best Supporting Actress: Television Movie/Cable for this role. She also appeared in popular shows like ER, Prison Break, and House.
In 2008, Adina Porter was cast as Lettie Mae Thornton in the HBO series True Blood. She played the mother of Tara Thorton. She became a main character in the show's seventh and final season. From 2012 to 2014, she had a recurring role as Kendra James on the HBO series The Newsroom.
In 2014, she started playing Indra in The 100, a science fiction drama on CW. She also appeared in the WGN America show Underground in 2016. Later that year, she joined the FX series American Horror Story: Roanoke as Lee Harris. She had previously appeared in American Horror Story: Murder House in 2011. For her role in Roanoke, she received great reviews and was nominated for a Saturn Award.
She then played Beverly Hope in American Horror Story: Cult. For this role, she received another Saturn Award nomination and a Primetime Emmy Award nomination. She became a main character in the eighth season of American Horror Story, called Apocalypse, playing Dinah Stevens. In 2021, she returned as a main character in the tenth season, Double Feature, playing Chief Burleson. In 2020, she also played Sheriff Susan Peterkin in the Netflix series Outer Banks.
