Adolphus Lake is a beautiful lake located in Alberta, Canada. It sits right on the edge of two important natural areas: Jasper National Park and Mount Robson Provincial Park. This means it's surrounded by stunning mountains and wild nature.

Discovering Adolphus Lake

Adolphus Lake was named after an interesting person named Adolphus Moberly. He was an early Métis (pronounced May-tee) person who lived in the Jasper area. The Métis are a group of Indigenous people in Canada with mixed Indigenous and European ancestry.

Who Was Adolphus Moberly?

Adolphus Moberly had strong connections to the local Iroquois people. He was known for his knowledge of the land. This made him a great guide for explorers.

Guiding an Expedition

In 1908, Adolphus Moberly helped guide an important trip. This trip was led by Arthur Coleman. They started their journey from the Jasper valley.

The Journey Through the Mountains

Moberly guided the group up the Moose River. They traveled all the way to Moose Pass. The expedition then continued into the areas where the Smoky River begins. Finally, they went over Robson Pass. This led them to the base of the Robson Glacier. It was on this journey that Adolphus Lake was explored and later named in his honor.
