Adrian John Charles Hope, known as the 4th Marquess of Linlithgow, was born on July 1, 1946. A Marquess is a very old and important noble title in the United Kingdom. Before he became the Marquess, he was known by other titles. He was called Viscount Aithrie until 1952, and then Earl of Hopetoun from 1952 to 1987. His family's main home, called a "family seat," is Hopetoun House. This beautiful estate is located near Edinburgh, Scotland. He received his education at Eton College, a well-known school.

Lord Linlithgow has been married three times during his life.
First Marriage
His first marriage was to Anne Pamela Leveson on January 9, 1968. They had two children together. They later divorced in 1978.
- Andrew Victor Arthur Charles Hope, who is now the Earl of Hopetoun, was born on May 22, 1969. He married Skye Laurette Bovill on July 10, 1993. Andrew and Skye have four children.
- Lord Alexander John Adrian Hope was born on February 3, 1971.
Second Marriage
His second marriage was to Peta Carol Binding in 1980. They also had two children. Lord Linlithgow and Peta Carol Binding divorced in 1997.
- Lady Louisa Vivienne Hope was born on April 16, 1981. She married Michael Luke van den Berg in 2012.
- Lord Robert Charles Robin Adrian Hope was born on January 17, 1984. He married Tamarisk Zoe Morris in 2015.
Third Marriage
His third marriage was to Auriol Veronica Mackeson-Sandbach on November 1, 1997. They later divorced in 2007.
The Next Generation
The person expected to become the next Marquess of Linlithgow is Lord Linlithgow's oldest son, Andrew. Andrew is currently known as the Earl of Hopetoun. He is married to Skye Bovill, who is now the Countess of Hopetoun. Andrew once served as a Page of Honour for Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. Both Lord and Lady Hopetoun have taken part in the Queen's carriage procession at Royal Ascot.
Lord and Lady Hopetoun live at Hopetoun House. The 4th Marquess lives on the same estate.
