Adrion "Pee Wee" Smith (born September 29, 1971) is a former football player from the United States. He played in the CFL for twelve years. Smith was a defensive back, a player who helps stop the other team from scoring. He played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Memphis Mad Dogs, and Toronto Argonauts from 1994 to 2005.

Adrion Smith was a CFL All-Star four times. He also won three Grey Cup Championships with the Toronto Argonauts. The Grey Cup is like the Super Bowl for Canadian football. Smith was known for being a very flexible player. He could play different positions, like quarterback sometimes, and he was great at returning punts. He played college football at Southwest Missouri State University. After retiring from playing, he became a radio and TV analyst for football.

Playing in the CFL

Adrion Smith had an exciting career in the Canadian Football League. He played for three different teams and won many awards.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Smith started his CFL journey with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He signed with them in March 1994. During that season, he played in 14 regular season games.

Memphis Mad Dogs

For the 1995 season, Smith moved to the Memphis Mad Dogs. He played 15 games for them that year. A highlight was when he returned a punt for a touchdown! This means he caught a punt and ran it all the way to the end zone for a score.

Toronto Argonauts: First Stint

Smith joined the Toronto Argonauts for the 1996 season. This was a very successful time for him.

First Grey Cup Win

In the 84th Grey Cup game, Smith made a huge play. He caught an interception and ran it 49 yards for a touchdown. This helped the Argonauts win their first Grey Cup with him on the team.

Second Grey Cup Win

In 1997, Smith and the Argonauts won their second Grey Cup in a row. This was the 85th Grey Cup. In this game, Smith set a new record! He returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown. This was the longest kickoff return ever in Grey Cup history at that time.

Brief NFL Experience

On January 28, 1998, Smith signed with the Buffalo Bills in the NFL. The NFL is the main professional football league in the United States. He was with the team during their training camp, but he was released before the regular season started.

Toronto Argonauts: Second Stint

After his time with the Buffalo Bills, Smith returned to the Toronto Argonauts. He came back in September 1998 and played 8 games that year.

Third Grey Cup Win

Smith won his third Grey Cup with the Argonauts in 2004. This was the 92nd Grey Cup. It was another big win for him and the team.

Retirement

Smith continued to play for the Argonauts in 2005. After that season, he decided to retire from playing professional football.

Personal Life

Adrion Smith is married to Denise Warriner. They have three children together: Makayla, Kiondré, and Charlize. In 2022, his son, Kiondré Smith, also became a professional football player. Kiondré was drafted into the CFL by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, following in his father's footsteps!
