Dato' Afdlin Shauki bin Aksan (born May 19, 1971) is a famous Malaysian artist. He is known for many things! He is a producer, writer, director, actor, comedian, singer, songwriter, and TV host. He has also been involved in politics.

Afdlin Shauki's Amazing Career
Music: Singing and Performing
Afdlin Shauki is a talented singer and musician. He performs live with his band, Acid Iz. They play a cool mix of R&B, acid jazz, and funk music.
His first album, FUUYO!, came out in 2003. He has performed for huge crowds, like 50,000 people at the 'Ikhlas Concert' in 1992. He even opened for Sheila Majid at Ronnie Scott's, a famous jazz club in Europe.
In 2005, he won an award for "Best Ethnic Pop song". This was at the Anugerah Juara Lagu ke-19. He wrote the winning song, 'Erti Hidup', for singer Dayang Nurfaizah.
Television: Acting and Hosting
Afdlin has worked a lot as an actor, director, and TV presenter. In 1999, he won "Best Presenter" at the Asian Television Awards. This was for his talk show, Bila Larut Malam, on Astro.
He has hosted many big events for six years in a row. He has also hosted game shows, sports shows, music shows, and lifestyle programs.
Filmmaking: Directing and Acting
Afdlin started acting in movies with a small role in Mimpi Moon. Then, he appeared in the Hollywood film Anna and the King. He played the main romantic role in Soal Hati. For this role, he won a "Best Actor" award in 2000.
He also writes and directs his own films. His first movie as a writer and director was Buli. It was about a smart but shy person in the business world. For Buli, he won awards for "Most Promising New Director", "Best Screenplay", and "Best Original Story" in 2005. He also won "Best Actor" and "Best Director" for it.
He made a sequel called Buli Balik. This movie also won awards for "Best Director" and "Best Film". Other movies he acted in include Gila-Gila Pengantin Remaja and Baik Punya Cilok.
In 2007, he made Sumolah, which was shown at a film festival in Japan. He also made Los Dan Faun.
One of his most famous films is Papadom, released in 2009. It's a comedy-drama about a father who becomes very protective of his daughter. Papadom won many awards, including "Best Film" and "Best Actor" for Afdlin. It was even remade into a Tamil version called Appalam.
Politics: Serving the People
Afdlin Shauki joined the People's Justice Party (PKR) in March 2021. He wanted to help and serve the people. In 2022, he decided to run for a leadership position in his party. He ran for the Setiawangsa PKR branch chief.
He explained that he wanted to bring new energy to how the party connects with people. He also felt he could offer a fresh choice to members. He ran against the current leader, Nik Nazmi. In the end, he did not win the election.

Personal Life
Afdlin Shauki was born and grew up in Johor Bahru, Johor. He is the oldest of ten children. His parents were Fadzilah Jelani (who passed away in 2018) and Aksan Abu Bakar (who passed away in 2020).
