Her Early Life and Studies

Ailbhe Ní Ghearbhuigh grew up in County Kerry, Ireland. She went to NUI Galway, a university in Ireland. In 2005, she earned a degree in Irish and French. After that, she spent some time living in Bordeaux, France. She then returned to NUI Galway to get a master's degree in Modern Irish.

Teaching and Awards

In August 2007, Ailbhe traveled to New York. She taught Irish there as part of the Fulbright program. This program helps people from different countries learn from each other. She taught at Lehman College in the Bronx. In 2008, the Arts Council of Ireland gave her an artist's bursary. This award helps artists with their work. Ailbhe has also helped translate her own poems into English.

Her Poetry and Research

Ailbhe Ní Ghearbhuigh's first book of poems is called Péacadh. It was published in 2008. Many people have said that her poems are often hopeful. However, some of her strongest poems also talk about feeling a bit lost or how life can be unpredictable.

She also earned a PhD, which is a very high university degree. Her research looked at how France influenced the Irish language revival between 1893 and 1922. This research won an important award called the Adele Dalsimer Prize in 2014.
