ʻĀinaloa (also spelled Ainaloa) is a special type of community in Hawaiʻi County, Hawaiʻi, United States. It's called a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area that the government counts for population, but it's not officially a city or town. ʻĀinaloa is located in the District of Puna. In 2020, about 3,609 people lived there.
Where is ʻĀinaloa?
ʻĀinaloa is on the eastern side of Hawaiʻi Island. This island is the largest in the state of Hawaiʻi. You can find it at these coordinates: 19°31′33″N 154°59′38″W / 19.52583°N 154.99389°W.
It is surrounded by other communities. To the west, you'll find Hawaiian Acres. To the north is Orchidlands Estates. And to the northeast, there's Hawaiian Paradise Park. ʻĀinaloa is about 15 miles (24 km) south of a larger city called Hilo.
The United States Census Bureau says that ʻĀinaloa covers a total area of about 5.1 square kilometers (1.98 square miles). All of this area is land, with no water.
