The Al-Andalus Mosque (also known as Mezquita de al-Ándalus in Spanish) is a large and important mosque located in the city of Málaga, Andalusia, Spain. It is found in the Arroyo del Cuarto neighborhood. This mosque is a place of worship for Islamic people.
What's Inside the Mosque?
The Al-Andalus Mosque is very big, covering an area of 4,000 square meters. It has two main entrances, one for men and one for women.
Inside, you'll find many useful spaces:
- A kindergarten for young children.
- An auditorium that can seat up to 200 people.
- Three special rooms for prayer.
- Classrooms where people can learn.
- A library, and even classes for learning Arabic.
The mosque can hold up to 1,000 people at once. This makes it one of the largest mosques in all of Europe.
The Minaret Tower
A minaret is a tall, slender tower that is part of a mosque. From the minaret, a person called a muezzin traditionally calls Muslims to prayer. The minaret at the Al-Andalus Mosque stands 25 meters (about 82 feet) tall.
