Alan James Fitzmorris (born March 21, 1946 – died December 4, 2024) was an American professional baseball player. He was a talented pitcher who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for several teams. These teams included the Kansas City Royals, Cleveland Indians, and California Angels. He played in the big leagues from 1969 to 1978.

Playing Baseball: Al Fitzmorris's Career
Al Fitzmorris started his baseball journey in 1966 when he signed with the Chicago White Sox. He was not chosen in the regular draft, but he still got a chance to play.
Joining the Royals
In 1968, the Kansas City Royals picked Fitzmorris in a special event called the expansion draft. This draft helps new teams get players. He became an important player for the Royals. In 1975, he had his best year, winning 16 games as a pitcher. He stayed with the Royals until 1976.
Moving to New Teams
After his time with the Royals, Fitzmorris moved to other teams.
- In 1976, the Toronto Blue Jays briefly picked him in another expansion draft. However, he was quickly traded to the Cleveland Indians on the same day.
- He played for the Indians until July 1978.
- Soon after, he joined the California Angels for the rest of that season.
Retirement from the Game
After the 1978 season, Fitzmorris became a free agent. He signed with the San Diego Padres in 1979. He played for their minor league team, the Hawaii Islanders, before retiring from baseball at age 33.
Life After Baseball
After he stopped playing baseball, Al Fitzmorris stayed active in his community in Kansas City. He helped many different charities and good causes. He passed away on December 4, 2024, at the age of 78, after a long illness.
