Al Leslie's Basketball Journey

College Basketball Star

Al Leslie played college basketball for the Bucknell Bison from 1977 to 1981. He was an incredible scorer. He still holds team records for the most shots made and attempted. In a game in 1980, he scored 45 points against the American Eagles. This is the highest score by a Bucknell player in modern times. His jersey number, 22, was even retired by Bucknell to honor his achievements.

Playing Pro Basketball

After college, Al Leslie was chosen by the Indiana Pacers in the 1981 NBA draft. He was the 37th player picked overall. Even though he was a top pick, he didn't end up playing in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played for the Rochester Zeniths in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) from 1981 to 1983. The CBA was a professional basketball league, a bit like a minor league for the NBA.

Life After Playing

After his playing career, Al Leslie became a coach. He was an assistant coach for the Bucknell Bison from 1984 to 1986. He also coached at his old high school, McDonogh School. In 1986, he was honored by being added to the Bucknell Hall of Fame. This is a special place for athletes who have achieved great things at the university. In 2012, Al Leslie was working as a math teacher for Job Corps in Woodstock, Maryland. He helped people get their General Educational Development (GED) certificates.
