How Al Tahoe Got Its Name
The name "Al Tahoe" comes from the Al Tahoe Hotel. This hotel was built in 1907 by a person named Almerin R. Sprague. Before 1907, the area had a different name. In the 1800s, people called this community "Rowlands."
