Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Alameda was a city in Bannock County, Idaho, in the western United States. It was once a separate place, but it later joined with the larger city of Pocatello. Alameda started as two smaller villages, Fairview and North Pocatello, which came together in 1924.

Alameda grew quickly because it was close to Pocatello. It was also located on the Yellowstone Highway, which was an important road in Idaho. This road later became U.S. Route 91. By 1930, Alameda's population had grown a lot. In less than 40 years, it became the eleventh largest city in Idaho.
