Sir Alan Stewart of Darnley (born after 1406 – died 1439) was a Scottish nobleman. He belonged to the important Stewart of Darnley family. Alan Stewart was involved in the Hundred Years War, a long conflict in Europe.

Life of Alan Stewart
Alan Stewart was the son of John Stewart of Darnley. His mother was Elizabeth, whose father was the Earl of Lennox. Alan joined his father and brothers to fight in France. This was during a time of many battles.
Becoming a Lord
In 1429, Alan's father died at the Battle of the Herrings. This battle happened during the Siege of Orléans. After his father's death, Alan inherited important titles. He became the Lord of Aubigny and Concressault. He also became the Constable of the Scottish Army in France. This meant he was a top military leader. Alan also became the chief of the Stewarts of Darnley family.
Return to Scotland
By 1437, Alan decided to give up his lands in France. He passed them to his younger brother, Sir John Stewart. Alan then returned to Scotland.
Conflict and Death
Back in Scotland, Alan became involved in a serious dispute. This was with the Boyd family from Dean Castle. In 1439, Sir Alan Stewart was killed. He was killed by Sir Thomas Boyd of Kilmarnock. Later, Alan's youngest brother, Alexander Stewart, got revenge for his death. This happened at the Battle of Craignaught Hill.
Family and Children
Alan Stewart of Darnley married Catherine Seton. Catherine was the daughter of Sir William Seton. Her mother was Janet Dunbar. Alan and Catherine had two sons:

- Alexander Stewart of Galston
After Alan's death, his wife Catherine married Herbert Maxwell, 1st Lord Maxwell.
