Albany Mall is a popular shopping mall located in Albany, Georgia. It's a big indoor place where you can find many different stores. The mall first opened its doors in 1976.

Today, some of its main stores, called anchor stores, include Belk, JCPenney, Dillard's, Old Navy, and Books-A-Million. These large stores help bring lots of shoppers to the mall. Aronov Realty is the company that manages Albany Mall.

History of Albany Mall

The Albany Mall first welcomed shoppers in 1976. Back then, its main stores were Gayfers (which later became Dillard's), Belk, Rosenberg's, and Sears. These were the big stores that anchored the mall.

Growing Bigger: New Stores Arrive

In 1987, the mall's owners, Aronov Realty, got permission to add a new section. This new part would include another major store, JCPenney. This JCPenney store opened in 1988. It took the place of an older JCPenney store nearby. Also in 1988, the Belk store got a fresh new look with renovations.

Rosenberg's store closed down in 1990. A year later, in 1991, Mansour's store opened in that same spot.

Changes in the 2000s

In the year 2000, Old Navy became a new addition to the mall. Mansour's store closed its doors the following year. Then, in April 2004, Books-A-Million moved into the space where Mansour's used to be. This was a move from their old location on Old Dawson Road.

JCPenney also got a renovation in 2011, giving it an updated look. Later, in 2017, the Sears store at the mall closed.
