Albert College Park (which in Irish is Páirc Choláiste Ailbhe), also known as Hampstead Park, is a cool public park in Dublin, Ireland. It's owned by Dublin City Council, which means it's a place for everyone to enjoy. The park is looked after by the council's Parks and Landscape Services team. You can find it in the northern part of Glasnevin, a suburb of Dublin.

Where is Albert College Park?

Albert College Park is located on Ballymun Road in Glasnevin. It's right next to the main campus of Dublin City University (DCU). People often call it an "oasis" because it's a peaceful green space in the city.

The park has different neighbours around it. To the north and east, it's next to DCU. To the southeast, you'll find Hampstead Private Hospital. Hampstead Avenue is to the south, and Ballymun Road is to the west.

Cuilín House: A Historic Building

In the middle of Albert College Park, you'll find an old building called Cuilín House. This building has a long history! It was first used in 1838 by a place called Glasnevin Model Farm. This farm later became Albert College in 1851.

Cuilín House was used as a home for professors from the college for many years. It's now a protected building, owned by Dublin City Council. For a while, community groups used it, but then it became empty.

In 2021, Dublin City Council added new things to many parks in Dublin. This included public toilets and cafes. In Albert College Park, the toilets are inside the Tram Café. This café opened in 2021 in the old courtyard of Cuilín House.

Sports and Fun at the Park

Albert College Park is a great place for sports and outdoor activities!

National Tennis Centre

The park is home to the National Tennis Centre. This centre was built in 2003, and more courts were added in 2005 and 2008. It's a top spot for tennis players.

Playing Fields

There are lots of pitches for different sports. You can find fields for Gaelic football and soccer. Many local clubs use these fields, like Na Fianna, Glasnevin Soccer Club, Stella Maris, and Bohemian F.C. youth teams. There are also courts for Boules (a game similar to bocce) and a cricket pitch.

Walking and Running Trails

If you love to walk or run, there's a 3.5-kilometre trail called Slí na Sláinte. This path connects the park with the main DCU campus. The park also hosts a junior parkrun, which is a fun, free running event for kids.

Playground and Nature

For younger visitors, there's a children's playground where they can have fun. The park also has a "Native Tree Trail." This trail lets you explore and learn about different types of trees that grow naturally in Ireland.
