Albert Dauzat (born July 4, 1877 – died October 31, 1955) was a French linguist. A linguist is someone who studies language. He was especially good at studying how place names and personal names came to be.
Dauzat learned from a famous scholar named Jules Gilliéron. Later, Dauzat became a director of studies at a well-known school called the École des hautes études. This means he helped guide students and research there.
