Albert Marcet Torrens was born on April 11, 1960. He is a Spanish economist. An economist is someone who studies how money, goods, and services are made and used. Mr. Marcet specializes in big-picture economics, like how whole countries' economies work. He also studies financial markets and how things change over time in economics.

He is a special research professor at the Center for Research in International Economics (CREI). He also teaches and researches at the Barcelona School of Economics (BSE). He is an expert in understanding economic risks. Mr. Marcet is also a member of the Econometric Society. He has been a research fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) since 1992.

His Journey in Economics

Albert Marcet studied economics at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. He then earned his PhD in Economics from the University of Minnesota in the United States.

In the past, he taught economics at the London School of Economics. He also directed the Institute for Economic Analysis (IAE). This institute is a research center of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).

He was the president of the Spanish Economic Association in 2007. In 2013, he received an important grant from the European Research Council (ERC). This grant was for his project about asset prices and how economies work when people learn new things.

Professor Marcet was the first director of a special master's program. This program at the Barcelona School of Economics focuses on macroeconomic policy and financial markets. He is now the scientific director of this program. He also teaches courses there.

He has done a lot of work on how people's expectations affect the economy. He worked with other famous economists like Thomas Sargent on these ideas.
