AFL Career Highlights

Joining the Brisbane Lions (2006-2008)

Albert Proud was expected to be a top player in the 2006 AFL draft. He was compared to famous players like Byron Pickett. However, a foot injury caused him to be picked later. The Brisbane Lions chose him as pick number 22 in the second round of the draft.

When he joined the Lions, Proud received the number 34 jersey. In his first season in 2007, he played two senior games. He also played well in almost all of the Lions' reserve matches. This showed he had great potential.

His 2008 season was better for senior games. He played in seven matches that year. This included an exciting win against Collingwood in round two. Proud was part of the Lions' team for four of the last five games of the year. In a round 17 game against North Melbourne, he had a career-high 21 disposals and kicked two goals. In the same year, he finished sixth in the Grogan Medal. This award is for the best player in the QAFL. He received votes in nine games, even though he only played twelve matches.

Playing Years (2009-2010)

Proud played in 13 games during the 2009 season.

In the 2010 season, he played two games in rounds four and five. After this, Proud took a break from the Brisbane Lions for personal reasons. He returned to the team in Round 17. In his second week back, he kicked a career-high three goals. This was in a game where his team lost to Melbourne. On 28 October 2010, Proud was removed from the Lions' main list. However, on 7 December that year, the Lions picked him again. He was chosen at pick #47 in the Rookie Draft.

NEAFL Career

After his time with the Brisbane Lions, Albert Proud decided to play for his old club, the Mt Gravatt Vultures. He joined them for the 2011 NEAFL competition. Proud met with the Vultures coach, David Lake, soon after leaving the Lions.
