Alberto Federico 'Beto' Acosta Tabizzi (born August 23, 1966) is a famous former football player from Argentina. He was known as a fantastic striker, which means he was great at scoring goals!

Beto played professional football for 18 years. During this time, he played almost 700 official games. He scored more than 250 goals in total. He played for many different teams, including San Lorenzo in Argentina four separate times. He also played in France, Chile, Japan, and Portugal.

Acosta also played for the Argentina national team. He took part in two big tournaments called the Copa América.

Alberto Acosta's Football Journey

Beto Acosta started his football career in Arocena, Santa Fe Province, Argentina. He began playing professionally for Unión de Santa Fe. He made his first big league game debut just before his 20th birthday.

Two years later, he moved to San Lorenzo de Almagro. This was the first of four times he would play for this club. In his first two seasons there, he scored 34 goals. That's a lot of goals!

Playing in Other Countries

In 1990, Beto went to play football in another country for the first time. He joined Toulouse FC in France. After a short time, he returned to San Lorenzo. There, he scored 19 more goals. This helped him get a transfer to a very big club in Argentina, Boca Juniors.

Acosta then spent three years playing outside Argentina again. He played for Club Deportivo Universidad Católica in Chile. He was a top scorer in South American football in 1994. He scored an amazing 33 goals in only 25 games that year! He also played for Yokohama Marinos in Japan.

In 1998, Beto signed with Sporting Clube de Portugal. In his first full season, he was 33 years old. He scored 22 goals and helped his team win the Primeira Liga championship. This was a huge win for Sporting CP, as they hadn't won the league in 18 years! He scored 14 more goals the next year.

After his time in Portugal, he returned to San Lorenzo for the fourth and final time. He kept scoring many goals, always getting double digits each season. He retired in 2004 when he was 37 years old. He had scored 300 goals in 666 official games!

Becoming a Coach

After retiring as a player, Beto Acosta started a new career as a coach. He began coaching in Romania with FCM Dunărea Galaţi. In 2007, he came back to Argentina. He joined the coaching team for Club Atlético Fénix. He even played a few games for them for a short time!

Playing for Argentina

Beto Acosta played 19 games for the Argentina national team. He played for his country for three years. He was part of the team in two Copa América tournaments.

In the 1993 Copa América in Ecuador, he helped Argentina win the tournament. He successfully scored his penalty kicks in both the quarter-finals and the semi-finals. This was very important for his team's victory!
