The Alborz mountains, also sometimes called Elburz, are a big mountain range in northern Iran. These mountains stretch across a large area. They begin in the northwest of Iran, near the countries of Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The Alborz range then goes all the way to the southern part of the Caspian Sea. In the east, the mountains end near the borders of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan.
Tehran, which is the capital city of Iran, is located right at the bottom of the Alborz mountains. This means the city has a beautiful mountain backdrop.
One of the most famous peaks in this range is Mount Damavand. It is the tallest mountain in the entire Middle East.
