Alby Mangels, born on November 16, 1948, is an Australian adventurer and filmmaker. He is famous for his exciting World Safari movies. These films show his amazing travels around the globe. He made three main films: World Safari, World Safari II, and World Safari III.

Early Life and Adventures

Alby Mangels was born in the Netherlands in 1948. His father, Johannes, worked with leather. In 1955, when Alby was seven, his family moved to Australia. They settled in Adelaide, South Australia.

After about a year and a half, his parents separated. His mother, Adrianna, remarried but sadly passed away when Alby was fifteen. He left school at fourteen years old.

As a teenager, Alby tried many different jobs. He worked on a chicken farm and helped build houses. These early experiences likely helped him prepare for his future adventures.

Starting the World Safari

In 1971, Alby Mangels began a big trip with his friend, John Fields. They thought it would be a short adventure, but it turned into a six-year journey! They traveled across many continents and filmed everything they saw.

The first film from their travels was shown in Australia in 1977. It became a huge success. Alby continued his travels throughout the 1980s, always filming his experiences. From this later footage, he created two more World Safari films.

Alby and John often lived with local people in the places they visited. They sometimes worked for food and a place to stay. This helped them learn about the different cultures and ways of life around the world.

Books About Alby Mangels

Because of his popular films, a book called Alby Mangels' World Safari was published in the 1980s. This book shared more about his adventures.

Later, in 2007, Lynn Santer wrote an official book about Alby's life. It was titled Beyond World Safari. This book gave readers an even deeper look into his amazing journeys.

There have also been talks about making a movie about Alby Mangels' life. In 2010, there were rumors that he might appear on the TV show Dancing with the Stars.
