Alden Darby Jr. (born June 22, 1992) is a former professional football player. He played as a defensive back. This means he was a player who helped stop the other team from scoring. He played in both the National Football League (NFL) and the Canadian Football League (CFL). Alden Darby retired from playing football in 2024.

Playing College Football
Alden Darby played college football for the Arizona State Sun Devils. He was a key player for their team from 2010 to 2013. During his time there, he earned special honors. He was named to the All-Pac-12 team twice. This shows he was one of the best players in his college league.
Alden Darby's Pro Career
After college, Alden Darby started his professional football journey. He first tried out for teams in the NFL. Later, he found great success playing in the CFL.
Starting in the NFL
Alden Darby first joined the San Diego Chargers in 2014. He was not chosen in the main draft, but the Chargers signed him. He later played for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2015. He also spent time with the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts in 2016.

Toronto Argonauts
In 2017, Darby joined the Toronto Argonauts. He quickly showed his skills. He made 18 tackles and had an interception. An interception is when a defensive player catches a pass meant for the other team. He even ran that interception back 75 yards for a touchdown! This was his first touchdown as a pro. Even though he was injured, his team won the 105th Grey Cup that year. The Grey Cup is like the Super Bowl of Canadian football.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers
In 2021, Darby was traded to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He played in 11 games for them. He made 34 tackles and was named a CFL West All-Star. This means he was one of the best defensive players in the western division. That same year, the Blue Bombers won the 108th Grey Cup. This was Alden Darby's second Grey Cup championship!
Hamilton Tiger-Cats
In 2022, Darby signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He played in ten games for them. He recorded 23 tackles, one sack, and one interception. A sack is when a defensive player tackles the quarterback.
Back to the Blue Bombers
Later in 2022, Alden Darby returned to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He played in two more regular season games. He also played in the playoffs and the 109th Grey Cup game. Even though he played well, the Blue Bombers lost the Grey Cup that year. In 2023, he played in 11 games. He made 20 tackles before getting injured.
Alden Darby announced his retirement from football in June 2024. He had a successful career, winning two Grey Cups.
