María Alejandra Bravo de la Parra (born April 29, 1961) is a brilliant Mexican biochemist. She studies the amazing world of living things at a tiny, chemical level.
She won a special award in 2010 called the L'Oréal-UNESCO Award for Women in Science. This was for her important work on a natural bug killer. This bug killer comes from a type of bacteria.
Her Journey in Science
Alejandra Bravo studied at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She earned three degrees there, finishing her highest degree in 1989.
After her studies, she traveled to learn even more. She did research in Belgium and France. This helped her gain new skills and ideas.
Today, Dr. Bravo is a top researcher at UNAM. She works in the Institute of Molecular Microbiology. She is also a member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences. This means she is one of the country's leading scientists.
Dr. Bravo has created four international patents. A patent protects her new inventions and ideas. These inventions are now owned by UNAM.

Dr. Alejandra Bravo has received many important awards for her work.
- 1990-1991: She did special research at a biotech company in Belgium.
- 1998: She won a prize from the Mexican Academy of Sciences. This was for her work in natural sciences.
- 2000: UNAM gave her an award for being a young academic.
- 2002: She became a Fellow of the Mexican Academy of Sciences.
- 2003: She won an award for the best agricultural biotechnology research.
- Since 2003: She has been part of a special group of experts. This group helps make rules about keeping our environment safe. It's part of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety.
- 2010: She received the famous L'Oréal-UNESCO Award for Women in Science. This award celebrates women scientists in Latin America.
