Aleksandar Stipčević (born October 10, 1930 – died September 1, 2015) was a Croatian expert. He was an archaeologist, a bibliographer (someone who lists books), a librarian, and a historian. He was from an Albanian family in Croatia. He was famous for his special studies on the Illyrians.
He was born in a village called Arbanasi. This village is near Zadar, in Croatia. He was part of the local Arbanasi community. He became a full professor at the University of Zagreb. He taught there from 1987 until he retired in 1997. He was also a member of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo.
His book Iliri ("The Illyrians") came out in 1974. It was so important that it was translated into English, Italian, and Albanian. Albania gave him a special award, the Order of Skanderbeg.
