Alex Antônio de Melo Santos, known simply as Alex, is a former professional football player from Brazil. He was born on April 16, 1983. Alex played as a midfielder and sometimes as a defender on the left side of the field.

Alex's Football Journey

Alex started his football journey in Brazil. He played for the youth team of Cruzeiro Esporte Clube from 1996 to 2000. In 2001, he joined their main team.

Playing in Japan

Alex moved to Japan in 2002. His first club there was Kawasaki Frontale. He played 20 games for them and scored 1 goal.

Time at Avispa Fukuoka

From 2003 to 2007, Alex played for Avispa Fukuoka. This was a very important part of his career. He played in 186 games and scored 38 goals. In 2007, he had an amazing season, scoring 26 goals in 45 games!
