Alex Antônio de Melo Santos, known simply as Alex, is a former professional football player from Brazil. He was born on April 16, 1983. Alex played mainly as a left-back or a left-winger during his career. He spent many years playing for different clubs in Japan.

Alex's Football Journey
Alex started his football journey in Brazil with Cruzeiro. He played in their youth teams from 1996 to 2000. In 2001, he joined their main team.
Soon after, Alex moved to Japan, where he played for many different teams. His first club in Japan was Kawasaki Frontale in 2002. He played 20 games for them and scored one goal.
Playing for Avispa Fukuoka
From 2003 to 2007, Alex played for Avispa Fukuoka. This was a very important time in his career. He played in 186 games and scored 38 goals for the team. In 2007, he had an amazing season, scoring 26 goals!
Later Career in Japan
After Avispa Fukuoka, Alex played for several other Japanese clubs:
- Kashiwa Reysol in 2008
- JEF United Chiba from 2009 to 2010
- Kashima Antlers from 2011 to 2012
In June 2012, Alex joined Tokushima Vortis. At first, he was on a "loan" from Kashima Antlers. This means he played for Tokushima Vortis for a short time while still belonging to Kashima Antlers. Later, the move became permanent, and he signed a new contract with Tokushima Vortis. He played for them until 2016.
His last club was Kamatamare Sanuki, where he played from 2017 to 2018. Alex had a long and successful career in Japanese football.
Family Life
Alex has a twin brother named Alan. Alan is also a professional football player! He plays for Fujieda MYFC in the Japan Football League.
