Alex Dixon (born February 7, 1990) is an American professional soccer player. He is known for playing as a winger, which means he plays on the sides of the field to help attack and defend. He currently plays for USL Championship club Monterey Bay FC.

Alex Dixon's Early Soccer Journey
Alex Dixon started playing soccer at a young age. His first youth club was the Texas Heat. After that, he joined the Houston Texans youth soccer club. He was also part of the United States U-17 residency program. This program helps young, talented players train and develop their skills.
College Soccer at UNC Chapel Hill
After his youth clubs, Alex went to UNC Chapel Hill. He played for the North Carolina Tar Heels soccer team for three years, from 2008 to 2010. He played in 61 games and scored 14 goals. During his time there, the team made it to the NCAA College Cup every year. This is a big tournament for college soccer teams.
Playing for Reading United
In 2010, Alex also played for Reading United. This team was part of the USL Premier Development League, which is a league for young players who want to become professionals. He played in 7 games and scored 2 goals for them.
Alex Dixon's Professional Club Career
Alex Dixon has played for many professional soccer clubs. He started his professional career with the Houston Dynamo.
Time with Houston Dynamo
Alex signed his first professional contract with the Houston Dynamo on January 19, 2011. He was a "Homegrown Player," which means he came up through the team's youth academy. He made his first professional appearance on April 2, 2011. He scored his first goal for the Dynamo on August 20, 2011, helping his team win 3–2 against Real Salt Lake.
He also played in the CONCACAF Champions League, an international club competition. However, he did not get to play much during his three seasons with the Dynamo. He was loaned to the Tampa Bay Rowdies in 2013. He scored one goal for the Rowdies before leaving the Dynamo at the end of 2013.
Success with Rochester Rhinos
In 2014, Alex joined the Rochester Rhinos. He quickly became an important player for the team. He scored his first goal for Rochester on May 2, 2014. He also scored the winning goal in a game against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on May 17. He helped the Rhinos reach the playoffs that year.
The 2015 season was very successful for Alex and the Rhinos. He scored three goals early in the season, including two game-winning goals. He helped the Rhinos win their first-ever USL Regular Season title. They finished 13 points ahead of the second-place team! Alex also played in all three playoff games as the Rhinos won the USL Playoffs championship.
Playing for Jacksonville Armada
Alex signed with the Jacksonville Armada FC in the North American Soccer League (NASL) for the 2016 season. He made his debut on April 10, 2016. He scored his first goal for the Armada on July 9, helping them win 2–1. He scored another goal on October 19. He also helped his team win a US Open Cup match by setting up a goal in extra time.
Time with Oklahoma City Energy
In December 2016, Alex joined Oklahoma City Energy. He scored his first goal for OKC in his second game, on March 25, 2017. He scored two goals in a US Open Cup match on May 17. He also scored two goals in a league game on August 5, helping his team beat the top-ranked Real Monarchs. Alex helped the Energy reach the conference finals in the 2017 USL Playoffs.
He continued to play well in 2018. Even though the team had a slow start, Alex began scoring goals in June. He had a fantastic game on July 21, scoring two goals and assisting another in a 6–4 win against Las Vegas Lights FC. He was named to the USL Team of the Week for this performance. He ended the 2018 season with 11 goals and 5 assists, which were career highs for him. He was the top scorer for his team that year.
Joining Hartford Athletic
Alex joined Hartford Athletic for their first season in 2019. He scored his first goal for Hartford on April 27. On September 7, he scored two goals in a 5–1 win against Loudoun United FC. He finished the season with 5 goals and 4 assists, tying for the most assists on the team.
He signed again with Hartford for the 2020 season. The season started later due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Alex scored his first goal of the 2020 season on July 29. He scored two goals on September 20, helping Hartford win 3–0. He was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for this game. Alex scored 6 goals in 15 games, helping Hartford finish second in their conference and make the playoffs. Hartford fans voted him the club's Offensive Player of the Year.
Playing for Pittsburgh Riverhounds
On January 8, 2021, Alex signed with Pittsburgh Riverhounds for the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
Current Club: Monterey Bay FC
On December 13, 2022, Alex Dixon signed a two-year contract with Monterey Bay FC. In the team's first home game of the 2023 season, Alex had an amazing performance. He scored three goals, which is called a "hat trick," helping his team win 5–3. This was the first hat trick in his career and the first in Monterey Bay FC's history! His first goal in that game was the fastest in the club's history, scored in just 91 seconds. His second goal was his 50th goal in the USL Championship league. For his great performance, he was named the USL Championship Player of the Week.
Alex Dixon's Personal Life
Alex Dixon grew up in Humble, Texas. He has three brothers and one sister. He started playing soccer when he was four years old. He went to Atascocita High School. Alex is a big fan of the English soccer club Arsenal. He also looked up to famous athletes like Thierry Henry (a soccer player), Michael Jordan (a basketball player), and Allen Iverson (another basketball player).
