Alex Ozerov was born in Tula, Russia. When he was a young child, he lived in a military town called Garbolovo. This town was near Saint Petersburg, because his father was a paratrooper in the army.

When Alex was six years old, his parents separated. He then spent time living with his mother in England and his father in Ukraine. At age thirteen, he moved to Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. This happened after his mother met someone who lived there. Later, they moved and settled in Toronto.
