Alexandre Plante (born May 9, 1989) is a former professional ice hockey player. He was a defenceman, which is a player who helps protect the team's goal. Alexandre was born in Canada but later became a citizen of South Korea. He played for several teams during his career, including the Edmonton Oilers in the National Hockey League (NHL). His father, Cam Plante, was also a professional defenceman, and his brother, Tyler Plante, is a goaltending coach.

Playing Career Highlights
Starting in Junior Hockey
Alexandre Plante began his hockey journey in junior ice hockey. He played for the Calgary Hitmen in the Western Hockey League (WHL). This league is where many young players develop their skills before becoming professionals. He joined the Hitmen in 2004 and became a regular player by the 2005–06 season.
Drafted by the NHL
In 2007, Alexandre caught the eye of NHL scouts. The Edmonton Oilers picked him 15th overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. This was a big achievement, as it meant he was one of the top young players chosen that year.
Challenges and Comeback
After being drafted, Alexandre faced some challenges. Injuries limited his playing time in the 2007–08 season. He also had some disagreements with his team, the Calgary Hitmen. However, he worked hard and had a great season in 2008–09. He helped lead the Hitmen's defence and scored many points.
Professional Debut
Following his successful junior career, the Oilers signed Alexandre to a three-year contract. He started playing professionally in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Springfield Falcons. This is a league where players often play before moving up to the NHL. In 2010, he made his exciting NHL debut with the Edmonton Oilers.
Playing Overseas
After his time in North America, Alexandre moved to Europe in 2013 to play for Dornbirner EC in Austria. Later, in 2015, he joined Anyang Halla in the Asia League Ice Hockey. This league is popular in Asian countries. In 2017, he became a citizen of South Korea, which allowed him to play for their national team. He finished his career in 2020.
International Play
After becoming a South Korean citizen, Alexandre Plante had the chance to represent South Korea in international hockey tournaments. He played for the South Korea men's national ice hockey team in several important events:
