Tyler Plante was born on April 16, 1987. He is an American-born Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. He played his last games with the Lørenskog IK team in Norway. Today, Tyler is a goaltending coach for the Brandon Wheat Kings. This team plays in the WHL.

Tyler Plante's Hockey Journey
Tyler was chosen by the Florida Panthers in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He was the 32nd player picked overall.
Early Career and Awards
Tyler first got attention playing for the Brandon Wheat Kings. This team is part of the Western Hockey League. During the 2004–05 season, he won a special award. It was called the Jim Piggott Memorial Trophy. This award is given to the best rookie (new player) in the WHL.
After playing three full seasons with the Wheat Kings, Tyler signed a contract. He joined the Florida Panthers organization on June 1, 2007.
Playing in the Pros
Tyler spent most of his playing time with teams linked to the Florida Panthers. He played for the Rochester Americans until 2011. Then he moved to the San Antonio Rampage.
In 2008, he was called up to the Florida Panthers for a pre-season game. However, he did not play in that game. He started the season back with the Rochester Americans. After a tough start, he played some games in the ECHL. He joined the Dayton Bombers for a while. Later, he was called back to Rochester.
On September 30, 2011, the Florida Panthers sent Tyler to the San Antonio Rampage. He also played for the Cincinnati Cyclones in the ECHL. Tyler then decided to play hockey in other countries.
Playing Overseas
He signed a contract with a Swedish team called Mora IK. This team plays in the HockeyAllsvenskan, which is a second-tier league. Tyler played six games for Mora. After that, he signed with a top-tier Swedish team, Djurgårdens IF. He was a backup goalie for 11 games but did not get to play.
In the 2012–13 season, Tyler played a big role for HC Asiago. This team is from Italy. He helped them win the Serie A Championship. This was a major win for the team.
Retirement and Coaching
Tyler retired from playing hockey in 2016. After that, he joined his old team, the Brandon Wheat Kings. He became their goaltending coach.

Family Connections
Tyler's father, Cam Plante, was also a hockey player. He was playing for the Milwaukee Admirals when Tyler was born. Tyler also has a brother named Alex Plante. Alex was a first-round draft pick for the Edmonton Oilers. Hockey runs in their family!
Family Life and Work
Tyler got married in the summer of 2013. His wife's name is Jordana. They have two children, a son and a daughter.
Today, Tyler works in real estate in Brandon, Manitoba. He sells properties with his father, Cam.
