Alexander Urbom, born on December 20, 1990, is a professional ice hockey player from Sweden. He plays as a defenceman, which means he helps protect his team's goal. Currently, he plays for the EC Red Bull Salzburg team in the ICEHL.

Alexander Urbom's Hockey Journey
Starting in the NHL Draft
Alexander Urbom was chosen by the New Jersey Devils in the 2009 NHL Draft. He was the 73rd player picked overall. Before joining the NHL, he played for Djurgårdens IF in Sweden. He also played for the Brandon Wheat Kings in the WHL in North America.
First NHL Goal
Alexander scored his very first goal in the NHL on April 10, 2011. He scored against Tuukka Rask, who was the goalie for the Boston Bruins at the time.
Moving Between Teams
In October 2013, Alexander joined the Washington Capitals. He played 20 games with them during the first half of the 2013–14 season. Later, in January 2014, he returned to the New Jersey Devils.
After playing four seasons in North America, Alexander decided to go back to Europe. In June 2014, he signed a two-year contract with Severstal Cherepovets, a team in the KHL in Russia.
Returning to Sweden
After one season in the KHL, Alexander returned to Sweden. He signed with Skellefteå AIK in the SHL. He later went back to his original club, Djurgårdens IF, on a loan from Skellefteå AIK.
Alexander played three more seasons with Djurgårdens IF. After the 2018–19 season, he left Sweden again. In May 2019, he signed a one-year contract with Düsseldorfer EG in Germany. This team plays in the DEL.
Playing in Austria
In February 2021, Alexander joined EC Red Bull Salzburg in Austria. He has been playing for them in the ICEHL.
