Alexander Urbom's Hockey Journey
Alexander Urbom started his hockey career in Sweden. He was chosen by the New Jersey Devils in the 2009 NHL Draft. This means they picked him to join their team in the future. Before playing in the NHL, he played for Djurgårdens IF in Sweden and the Brandon Wheat Kings in Canada.
Playing in North America
Alexander Urbom made his debut in the NHL with the New Jersey Devils. He scored his very first NHL goal on April 10, 2011, against Tuukka Rask, who was the goalie for the Boston Bruins.
In 2013, he moved to the Washington Capitals for a short time. Sometimes, players can move between teams through a process called 'waivers.' This allows other teams to pick up a player if their current team doesn't need them right away. After playing 20 games with the Capitals, he returned to the New Jersey Devils in January 2014.
Back to Europe
After playing four seasons in North America, Alexander Urbom decided to return to Europe. In 2014, he signed a two-year contract with a Russian team called Severstal Cherepovets in the KHL.
After one season in Russia, he went back to Sweden. He joined Skellefteå AIK in the SHL. Later, he returned to his original club, Djurgårdens IF, on a loan from Skellefteå AIK. He played three more seasons with Djurgårdens IF.
In 2019, Alexander Urbom moved to Germany. He signed a one-year contract with Düsseldorfer EG in the DEL. In February 2021, he joined his current team, EC Red Bull Salzburg, in Austria.
