Early Life and Education
Alexandra Mardell was born in Leeds, a city in England. Her parents are Janet and Michael. Sadly, her father, Michael, passed away in 2016 from a heart condition called cardiomyopathy. Alexandra went to Batley Grammar School when she was younger. Later, she studied acting at a special school called the Guildford School of Acting (GSA).
Personal Life
While she was studying at the Guildford School of Acting, Alexandra met another actor named Joe Parker. They started dating in 2017. In April 2021, Alexandra shared the happy news that she and Joe were engaged to be married.
Alexandra's Acting Career
Starting Out in Television
Alexandra Mardell began her acting career in 2017. Her first professional role was in an episode of the ITV crime drama series Vera. Later that year, she also appeared in a short film called Chocolate Pieces.
Starring in Coronation Street
In 2018, Alexandra got a big role in the ITV soap opera Coronation Street. She joined the cast as a regular character named Emma Brooker. Her performance as Emma was very well-received. She was longlisted for Best Newcomer at the 2018 Inside Soap Awards. She was also nominated for Newcomer at the 24th National Television Awards. The following year, in 2019, she won the British Soap Award for Best Newcomer at the British Soap Awards.
Other Exciting Roles
In 2022, Alexandra took on the main role in a BBC Radio 4 show called English Rose. In this story, she played a British vampire who gets a job as a nanny in Manhattan.
On November 30, 2022, it was announced that Alexandra would be dancing with Kai Widdrington in the 2022 Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special. They performed wonderfully and ended up winning the competition!
