Alexandra Elizabeth Roach (born 20 August 1987) is a talented Welsh actress. She is well-known for playing Becky in the TV show Utopia. She also starred as DS Joy Freers in No Offence. You might have seen her in other popular series like Being Human, Inside No. 9, Black Mirror, and Killing Eve.
Life and Career Highlights
Alexandra Roach was born in Ammanford, a town in Carmarthenshire, Wales. Many people in her family, including her dad, worked in the police force. Alexandra speaks Welsh fluently.
When she was a teenager, Alexandra appeared in a long-running Welsh TV soap opera called Pobol y Cwm. She even won an award for Best Juvenile Actor in a Soap! After leaving the show in 2005, she joined the National Youth Theatre of Wales. Later, she went to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art to study acting.
Alexandra has shared a story about how her Welsh accent once made it hard for her to get a role. A director told her she wasn't right for the part because of her accent. She offered to use an English accent, but he still didn't listen. This shows that even talented actors can face challenges.
In 2010, Alexandra started getting many important roles. She played Sasha in Being Human. She also appeared as Beth Partridge in Candy Cabs. Another notable role was in The Suspicions of Mr Whicher.
A big moment in her career was playing a young Margaret Thatcher in the movie The Iron Lady. This film was about a former British Prime Minister. In 2012, she was Helene in the comedy Hunderby. In 2016, Alexandra got engaged to Jack Scales, a club promoter. They later got married. She also presented an award at the 2017 BAFTA Cymru Awards. These awards celebrate excellence in film and television in Wales.
