Alexander Mishon (Russian: Александр Михайлович Мишон) was a talented photographer and filmmaker from the Russian Empire. He was born on July 5, 1858, in Kharkiv, which is now part of Ukraine. Alexander came from a French family. He is famous for being one of the very first people to make movies in Azerbaijan.

Alexander Mishon started his career as a photographer. He even owned his own photo studio in his hometown. Later, he moved to Baku, which is now the capital of Azerbaijan. He lived there for 25 years. It was in Baku, in 1898, that he began making films. He used a special camera and projector called a Lumière cinematograph. This machine could both record moving pictures and show them to an audience.
