Alexia Khadime's Career
On Stage: Musical Theatre Roles
Alexia Khadime first appeared on stage in 1999. She was in a play called "Cinderella" at the Hackney Empire theatre. The next year, she joined a UK tour of the musical Leader of the Pack.
West End Debut and The Lion King
When she was just 17, Alexia made her debut in London's famous West End. She was part of the cast in The Lion King in 2001. She also learned the main role of "Nala" as a backup. In 2003, she toured the UK in Whistle Down the Wind, playing a character named "Candy".
In 2004, Alexia returned to The Lion King. This time, she played the lead role of "Nala" full-time. She stayed in this popular role until 2008.
Becoming Elphaba in Wicked
In early 2008, Alexia tried out for the main role of "Elphaba" in the musical Wicked. She started performing on her 25th birthday. She played Elphaba for six months, filling in for another actress. Alexia left Wicked in November 2008 but came back in May 2009. She played alongside Dianne Pilkington, who was "Glinda".
In 2009, Alexia and Dianne won an award together. It was for "Arts & Culture" at the "Woman of the Future Awards". Alexia's time in Wicked ended in March 2010. She is the only Black woman to have played Elphaba full-time in any Wicked show for a long time. In March 2025, Lencia Kebede also became a principal Elphaba on Broadway.
Other Stage Roles
After Wicked, Alexia acted in a play called Welcome to Thebes in 2010. Then, she returned to musicals. She played "Deb" in Ordinary Days in London in 2011.
In June 2011, Alexia took over the well-known role of "Éponine" in Les Misérables in London. She played this role for almost a year.
In late 2012, Alexia joined the first West End cast of The Book of Mormon. She played the character "Nabulungi". Her performances started in February 2013. She won two awards for this role in 2014. Her last show in The Book of Mormon was in January 2016.
Alexia also played Miriam in The Prince of Egypt at the Dominion Theatre in London's West End.
Return to Wicked
On March 7, 2023, Alexia Khadime returned to Wicked as Elphaba. This time, she performed with Lucy St. Louis as Glinda. This was a special moment because it was the first time both main roles were played by Black actresses at the same time.

On Screen: Television Roles
Alexia Khadime started her TV career in 1996. She appeared in an episode of the BBC show The Sculptress. She was also in Grange Hill for two years. In 1998, she had a regular role as "Tanisha" in the children's ITV series Comin' Atcha!.
In 1999, she played "Ellie Burns" in the BBC's The Queen's Nose. She also had roles in shows like The Bill, Class Action, and Sky One's Dream Team.
While performing in Les Misérables in 2012, Alexia made a special guest appearance. She was on an Irish TV show called OMG! Jedward's Dream Factory. An 11-year-old fan wished to see Les Misérables and meet Alexia. Alexia also played "Madeva" in the children's game show Splatalot!. She also provides the voice for Sardonyx in the Cartoon Network series Steven Universe.
In Movies: Film Appearances
Alexia Khadime appeared in the 2012 movie version of Les Misérables. She played a small role as a "wench" alongside other Wicked actors. On her birthday, June 9, the film London Road was shown. Alexia had a small role in that movie too.
Music: Singing Career
In February 2003, Alexia released a song called "Ring". It was released under just her first name, "Alexia". The song reached number 48 on the UK Singles Chart. In 2008, she sang a duet called "Enchanted" with Ben James-Ellis. This song was on an album of musical songs.
In 2011, Alexia sang a duet called "Looking Back" with her Ordinary Days co-star Daniel Boys. Her voice can also be heard on the soundtracks for the films Pride and Amazing Grace.
