Alexis Floyd is an American actress. She is well known for playing Neff in the Netflix series Inventing Anna. She also plays Dr. Simone Griffith on Grey's Anatomy.

Early Life and Learning

Alexis Floyd grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. She came from a family that loved music. Her mother played the flute and managed the Cleveland Youth Orchestra. Her father was a singer before he became a lawyer.

Alexis started playing the violin when she was three years old. She was also a competitive figure skater. She performed violin concerts with the Youth Orchestra. She studied ballet at the Cleveland School of Ballet. She also performed in musical theater shows. These shows were at places like Cleveland Playhouse.

She went to private schools for all her education. For high school, she attended Hawken School. Then, she went to Carnegie Mellon University. There, she studied musical theater. In 2012, she studied at The Rhodopi International Theater Collective in Bulgaria. She learned different acting styles there. After college, she moved to Los Angeles. Later, she moved to New York City, where she lives now.

Acting Career

Before her big role as Neff, Alexis worked in theater. She performed in many off-Broadway shows. She also had a repeating role as Tia Clayton. This was in the The Bold Type TV show on Freeform. She also did choreography and danced in short films and music videos.

Her acting career became much bigger when she got the role of Neff. This was in the series Inventing Anna. The show tells the true story of Anna Sorokin. Anna was a woman who pretended to be a rich German heiress. She tricked her way into New York high society.

Alexis prepared a lot for her audition. She did not use social media much. So, she did not know about Anna Sorokin's story. To learn about it, she read as much as she could. Alexis also learned the accent of Neff, who was from Prince George's County. She added some New York accent to it.

When Alexis got the role, she met the real Neff. Her name is Neffatari (Neff) Davis. They met several times. This helped Alexis understand the friendship between Neff and Anna. In the show, Alexis's character was a concierge at a hotel. Anna Delvey was staying there. The concierge became very important to Anna. She was Anna's only friend. Neff helped Anna get into special parties and shopping services.

Many people have praised Alexis's acting as Neff. Her performance has been called "magnetic." Alexis felt she could easily understand Neff Davis. They even live close to each other in Brooklyn.
