Alexis Floyd is an American actress. She is well-known for her roles as Neff in the Netflix series Inventing Anna (2022) and Dr. Simone Griffith on Grey's Anatomy (2022–2024).

Growing Up and School

Alexis Floyd was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. She grew up in a family that loved music. Her mother played the flute and managed the Cleveland Youth Orchestra. Her father was a tenor (a type of singer) before he became a lawyer.

Alexis started playing the violin when she was only three years old. She was also a competitive figure skater. She performed violin concerts with the Youth Orchestra. She studied ballet at the Cleveland School of Ballet. She also acted in musical theater shows.

She went to private schools for her education. For high school, she attended Hawken School. Later, she went to Carnegie Mellon University to study musical theater. In 2012, she studied theater in Bulgaria. There, she learned special acting methods like Suzuki method and mime. She also learned aerial art, which involves dancing in the air.

After college, she moved to Los Angeles. Then she moved to New York City, where she lives now. Before she got her big role as Neff, Alexis worked as a concierge. This was at a fancy yoga studio in New York.

Her Acting Career

Before her role in Inventing Anna, Alexis mostly acted in off-Broadway plays. She also had a repeating role as Tia Clayton in The Bold Type on Freeform. She also did choreography and dancing for short films and music videos.

Her career really took off when she got the part of Neff in Inventing Anna. This show tells the true story of Anna Sorokin. Anna was a woman who pretended to be a rich German heiress. She tricked her way into New York high society.

Alexis did a lot of preparation for the role. She usually doesn't use social media much. So, she didn't know about Anna Sorokin's story at first. To learn, she read as much as she could. Alexis also learned the special accent of Neff. It was a mix of a Prince George's County accent and a New York accent.

When Alexis got the role, she met the "real Neff," whose name is Neffatari Davis. They met several times. This helped Alexis understand the friendship between Neff and Anna. In the show, Alexis's character was a concierge at a hotel. Anna Delvey was staying there. The concierge became very important to Anna. She was Anna's only friend. Neff helped Anna get special access to parties and shopping.

Many people have praised Alexis's acting as Neff. Her performance has been called "magnetic." Alexis felt she could easily understand Neff Davis. They even live close to each other in Brooklyn. Alexis said they both worked front-desk jobs. They both tried to balance their art with earning money.
