Algirdas Kaušpėdas (born on August 12, 1953, in Vilnius, Lithuania) is a famous Lithuanian rock musician. He is best known as the leader of the rock band Antis. Besides music, he is also an architect. He was also an important person in a group called Sąjūdis, which helped Lithuania become independent.

Life and Work
Early Life and Education
Algirdas Kaušpėdas was born in Vilnius, Lithuania. His father, Vytautas Kaušpėdas, was also an architect. Algirdas went to Vilnius 23rd secondary school from 1960 to 1971. During some of those years, from 1968 to 1971, he also studied at Vilnius children art school. In 1976, he finished his studies at the Faculty of Architecture of Vilnius Civil Engineering Institute.
Career as an Architect
After finishing college, Kaušpėdas worked as an architect. From 1976 to 1984, he worked at the Institute of City Construction Planning in Kaunas. He then became the secretary of the Kaunas Architects' Union from 1984 to 1990. Since 1993, he has been a director at an architecture company called Jungtinės pajėgos. He has designed many houses in Lithuania and other countries like Germany, Denmark, and Norway. He also created a company called JP Haus, which develops real estate projects.
Public Activities
Algirdas Kaušpėdas was very active in public life. From 1988 to 1990, he was an important member of Sąjūdis. This was a big movement that helped Lithuania gain its independence. He was part of its first group and council. He also supported different people in elections, like Rolandas Paksas and Petras Auštrevičius.

Algirdas Kaušpėdas helped start several rock groups. The most famous one is Antis. He wrote most of the lyrics for Antis's songs and also some of the music.

The band Antis released four music albums. These include Antis (in 1987), Anties dovanėlė (in 1989), Ančių dainos (in 2007), and Zuikis Pleibojus (in 2009). The group also made two films: Kažkas atsitiko in 1986 and Gyva antis in 2005.
