Algirdas Kaušpėdas (born August 12, 1953, in Vilnius, Lithuania) is a well-known Lithuanian rock musician. He is the leader of the popular Lithuanian rock band Antis. Besides music, he is also an architect and was one of the people who started the Sąjūdis movement.

Algirdas Kaušpėdas: Life and Work
Algirdas Kaušpėdas grew up in a family of architects. His father, Vytautas Kaušpėdas, was also an architect. Algirdas studied at Vilnius 23rd secondary school and later at Vilnius children art school. In 1976, he finished his studies at the Faculty of Architecture of Vilnius Civil Engineering Institute.
His Career as an Architect
After graduating, Kaušpėdas worked as an architect for many years. From 1976 to 1984, he worked at the Institute of City Construction Planning in Kaunas. He later became the secretary of the Kaunas Architects' Union from 1984 to 1990.
Since 1993, he has been a director at an architecture company called Jungtinės pajėgos. He has designed many houses in Lithuania and other countries like Germany, Denmark, and Norway. He also created a company that develops real estate projects, called JP Haus.
Involvement in Sąjūdis
Algirdas Kaušpėdas was very active in the Sąjūdis movement from 1988 to 1990. Sąjūdis was a group that helped Lithuania gain its independence from the Soviet Union. He was part of the group that started Sąjūdis and was also a member of its council.
He also worked as a director for Lithuanian national television from 1990 to 1992.
Music Journey with Antis
Algirdas Kaušpėdas is famous for his music career, especially with the rock band Antis. He helped start several rock groups, but Antis became the most well-known. He wrote most of the lyrics for Antis's songs and also composed some of their music.
