Alhaurín de la Torre is a town in the province of Málaga, Andalusia, in southern Spain. It's part of the larger Málaga area and sits in a region called Valle del Guadalhorce. The town is located at the start of the Guadalhorce valley, on the slopes of the Sierra de Mijas mountains. It's about 17 kilometers (10.5 miles) away from the city of Málaga.
The town covers an area of 82 square kilometers (about 31.6 square miles). It's nestled between the Sierra de Mijas mountains and the Málaga basin. The Guadalhorce river flows through this area. Alhaurín de la Torre is the most populated town in the Guadalhorce region. It's also the third largest in its province, with about 39,911 people living there (as of 2018). The number of people living in Alhaurín de la Torre grew a lot in the 1990s. This happened because more people moved to the areas around Málaga.
The town was first settled by the Phoenicians, who came mostly from Libya.
