Alice is a small, unincorporated community located in Clear Creek County, Colorado, United States. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place with a shared identity but without its own local government, like a town or city. It is nestled in the mountains and has a history connected to mining.
History of Alice
The community of Alice was named after Alice Taylor, who was the wife of an important mining official in the area. Alice had its own post office for many years, which helped people send and receive mail in this mountain community. The post office was open from August 20, 1898, until December 31, 1938. Today, Alice is considered a ghost town because most of its original residents have left.
