Alicia K. Harris is a talented Canadian filmmaker. She directs and writes movies and TV shows. Alicia lives in Scarborough, Ontario. She became well-known for her short film Pick in 2019. This film won a big award called the Canadian Screen Award for Best Live Action Short Drama in 2020.

Her short film On a Sunday at Eleven also won the same award in 2025. This shows she is a very successful director!

Alicia's School Days

Alicia Harris studied film at Toronto Metropolitan University. She graduated from their School of Image Arts. She also completed a special program for women directors at the Canadian Academy.

Alicia's Filmmaking Journey

Alicia Harris started her career by writing and directing her first short film, Fatherhood, in 2014. This film won an award at the Scarborough Worldwide Film Festival. She then made several other short films. These include All Things But Forget (2015), Love Stinks (2016), and Maybe If It Were a Nice Room (2017). Her film On a Sunday at Eleven was released in 2024.

Alicia has also directed episodes for Canadian TV shows. Some of these shows are Lockdown, The Parker Andersons, and Amelia Parker.

Awards and Recognition

In 2018, Alicia was chosen for a special program. It was called the Apprenticeship for Women Directors. This program helped eight women filmmakers learn more about directing.

Her 2019 short film Pick won a major award. It received the Canadian Screen Award for Best Live Action Short Drama in 2020.

For the 2020 Polaris Music Prize, Alicia created a unique film. She made a short film inspired by Jessie Reyez's album Before Love Came to Kill Us. This was because the usual award show could not happen due to the pandemic.

In 2021, Alicia directed Blackberries. This was a short film for CBC Gem and Obsidian Theatre's 21 Black Futures project.

Alicia also directed the music video for Savannah Ré's song "Solid". This video was nominated for the Prism Prize in 2021. She was also nominated for a Canadian Screen Award in 2022. This was for Best Direction in a Web Program or Series for the show Next Stop.

In 2025, Alicia won two Canadian Screen Awards. Her film On a Sunday at Eleven won Best Live Action Short Drama. She also won Best Direction in a Children's or Youth Program or Series for her work on Beyond Black Beauty.

Alicia K. Harris also helped start a film company. It is called Sugar Glass Films.
