Jessica Reyez (born June 12, 1991) is a talented singer and songwriter from Canada with Colombian roots. She is known for her powerful voice and honest songs. Her hit song "Figures" became very popular in 2017. It was certified triple Platinum in Canada, which means it sold a lot of copies!

Early life and musical beginnings
Jessica Reyez was born in Toronto, Ontario. Her parents came from Colombia. From a young age, her father taught her to play the guitar. This sparked her love for art and music. She started writing her own songs when she was in high school.
After finishing school, Jessie decided to follow her dream of becoming a musician. She took on different jobs to support herself. In 2012, her family moved to Florida. There, she worked as a bartender and performed her music on the beach. In 2014, she returned to Toronto. She joined The Remix Project's Academy of Recording Arts. This program helped her learn more about the music industry. During this time, she was mentored by Daniel Daley from the group Dvsn. Her music also caught the attention of rapper King Louie.

Early songs and Kiddo (2014–2017)
In 2014, Jessie Reyez teamed up with King Louie to release their first song, "Living in the Sky." They released another song, "It Hurts (Selena)," in 2015. In early 2017, she released "Shutter Island." She also went on tour in Europe, opening for the artist PartyNextDoor.
Her song "Figures" was first played by Zane Lowe on Beats 1 radio. It quickly became a hit, reaching number 58 on the Canadian Hot 100 chart. This song was so popular it was certified triple platinum in Canada.
In April 2017, Jessie released her first collection of songs, called an EP, titled Kiddo. She also released a short film called Gatekeeper. This film shared her experiences and talked about challenges artists face in the music world. Kiddo was a success, reaching number 83 on the Canadian Album Chart.
Kiddo was nominated for many awards. At the 2018 Juno Awards, she won the Breakthrough Artist award. She also performed "Figures" at the 2017 BET Awards and on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Later in 2017, she signed a record deal with Island Records.
Being Human in Public (2018–2019)
Billboard magazine named Jessie Reyez one of the "10 Hip-Hop and R&B Artists to Watch in 2018." She released her second EP, Being Human in Public, and toured across North America. This EP won the R&B/Soul Recording of The Year at the 2019 Juno Awards. It was also nominated for a Grammy Award in 2020.
In August 2018, Jessie worked with Eminem on two songs, "Nice Guy" and "Good Guy," from his album Kamikaze. Both songs appeared on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. She also had a small role in the Netflix movie Someone Great. She appeared on The Lion King: The Gift album, performing and helping to write the song "Scar."
Before Love Came to Kill Us (2020–2021)
Jessie Reyez received her first Grammy nomination for Being Human in Public in 2020. She was scheduled to open for Billie Eilish on her world tour and perform at the Coachella festival. However, these events were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Her first full-length album, Before Love Came to Kill Us, was released on March 27, 2020. The album featured collaborations with Eminem and 6lack. It included popular songs like "Love in the Dark," "Figures," and "Imported." The album was very successful, reaching number 13 on the US Billboard 200 chart.
At the 2020 Juno Awards, Jessie was nominated for two awards. She won the R&B/Soul Recording of the Year for her song "Feel It Too" with Tory Lanez and Tainy. The music video for her song "Far Away" also won the 2020 Prism Prize. Jessie Reyez was featured in Beyoncé's musical film Black Is King, which came out in July 2020.
In 2021, she received five nominations at the Juno Awards. Her music video for "No One's in the Room" won the Video of the Year award.
Yessie (2022–present)
Jessie Reyez released her second studio album, Yessie, on September 16, 2022. This album has 11 songs and includes another collaboration with 6lack on the song "Forever."
