Early life and musical start

Jessica Reyez was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Her parents are from Colombia. Her father first showed her how to play the guitar, which sparked her interest in music and art. She started writing her own songs when she was in high school.

After high school, Reyez decided to focus on her music instead of going to college. She worked different jobs while chasing her dream. In 2012, she moved to Florida and often performed her music on the beach. She returned to Toronto in 2014 after being accepted into The Remix Project's Academy of Recording Arts. There, she learned a lot and met important people in the music industry.
