Alicja Józefa Kornasiewicz (born 18 March 1951 in Kańczuga, Poland) is a well-known Polish economist, manager, and politician. She has held important roles in both government and the business world. She was a member of the Polish parliament and served as a Vice Minister in the Ministry of State Treasury. Today, she is a managing director at Morgan Stanley in Warsaw and the chair of Cineworld, a major movie theater company.

Education and Learning
Alicja Kornasiewicz is highly educated. She studied at the Szkoła Główna Planowania i Statystyki, which is a famous university in Poland. She also earned a PhD degree from Poznań University of Economics.
In 1978, she became a Statutory auditor. This means she passed special exams to become an expert who checks the financial records of companies. She is a member of the National Chamber of Statutory Auditors in Poland. To further her business knowledge, she attended advanced management programs at two very famous business schools: Harvard Business School in the USA and INSEAD in France.

Early Political Role
After Poland became a democratic country, Alicja Kornasiewicz was elected to the Polish parliament. She served as a member of parliament from 1989 to 1991. Later, from 1997 to 2000, she worked as a Secretary of State (which is like a Vice Minister) in the Polish Ministry of the Treasury. This ministry is in charge of managing the government's money and state-owned companies.
Working in Banking and Finance
Before her government roles, Alicja Kornasiewicz worked as a senior banker at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London. The EBRD is an international bank that helps countries in Europe develop their economies.
She also led the investment banking division for new European countries at Unicredit Group. Investment banking involves helping companies raise money, buy other companies, or sell parts of their business. From 2010, she was the CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of Bank Pekao SA, a large bank in Poland.
In 2012, Alicja Kornasiewicz joined Morgan Stanley, a big global financial company. She became a senior advisor in investment banking, focusing on Poland and other countries in Central and Eastern Europe. She is now a managing director at Morgan Stanley's office in Warsaw. She also helps judge at the Galeria Chwały Polskiej Ekonomii, which celebrates achievements in Polish economics.
Leading Cineworld
In May 2020, Alicja Kornasiewicz became the chair of Cineworld. Cineworld is one of the largest movie theater companies in the world. She had already been a non-executive director on their board since May 2015. A non-executive director helps guide the company but is not involved in its day-to-day operations.
