Alingsås Municipality (Alingsås kommun) is a local government area in western Sweden. It is located in Västra Götaland County. The main town, or "seat," of the municipality is the city of Alingsås.
The current municipality was formed in 1974. This happened when the former City of Alingsås joined together with two other areas, Bjärke and Hemsjö.
