Mont-de-Marsan is a town in southwestern France. It is located in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. This town is special because it is the prefecture (or capital) of the Landes department. It is also the capital of the Mont-de-Marsan area.
Mont-de-Marsan is also the main town for two smaller areas called cantons. These are Mont-de-Marsan-1 and Mont-de-Marsan-2.

Mont-de-Marsan is built where two rivers meet. These rivers are the Douze and the Midou. They join together right in the middle of the city to form a new river called the Midouze.
The town covers an area of about 36.9 square kilometers (14.2 square miles). Its average height above sea level is 60 meters (197 feet). At the city hall, the height is 52 meters (171 feet).
Mont-de-Marsan is surrounded by several other towns. These include Uchacq-et-Parentis, Saint-Avit, Mazerolles, Bretagne-de-Marsan, Saint-Pierre-du-Mont, and Campet-et-Lamolère.
