Alison Ann Sweeney (born September 19, 1976) is an American actress, TV host, director, and author. She is most famous for playing Samantha "Sami" Brady on the NBC soap opera Days of Our Lives. She played this role for a long time, from 1993 to 2014.
For her work on Days of Our Lives, she was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award. She also won several Soap Opera Digest Awards. After taking a break, she returned to the show as a regular in 2021. From 2007 to 2015, Alison was also the host of the TV show The Biggest Loser.

Alison Sweeney's Family Life
Alison Sweeney has Irish family roots. She has two brothers. She went to UCLA to study economics. However, she left college because she was very busy with Days of Our Lives.
On July 8, 2000, Alison married David Sanov. They had been dating for almost three years. Alison and David have two children. Their son was born in 2005, and their daughter was born in 2009. The family lives in Los Angeles.
Alison Sweeney's Career Journey
Alison Sweeney started acting when she was very young. Her first TV appearance was at age five in a Kodak commercial. A few years later, she was in an episode of the horror show Tales from the Darkside. She played a girl who could tell when people were about to die.
In 1988, she appeared in the TV show Family Man. The next year, she played Christy McCray in Brand New Life. This was a short series that aired on NBC's Magical World of Disney.
Becoming Sami Brady
On January 6, 1993, when Alison was 16, she joined Days of Our Lives. She took on the role of Samantha "Sami" Brady. Alison was already a big fan of the show.
In the 1990s, there were some unfair ideas about body weight. Alison was a US dress size 12. This was not considered unhealthy, but it was larger than many other TV stars. Some people talked about this, and Alison wrote about it in her 2004 book, All The Days of My Life (So Far).
Other TV Appearances and Hosting
In 2002, Alison was on a celebrity episode of the game show Fear Factor. She also appeared in other NBC shows. These included Friends, where she played an actress on Days of Our Lives, and Las Vegas.
From 2007 to 2010, she was a co-host for the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon. This was a live TV event that raised money for charity.
In 2007, Alison became the host of The Biggest Loser. She replaced Caroline Rhea. Alison was happy to get the job. She enjoyed cheering on the people on the show and celebrating their successes.

Alison Sweeney has written four books. Her first book, All The Days of My Life (So Far), came out in 2004. She also wrote The Star Attraction (2013), Scared Scriptless: A Novel (2014), and Opportunity Knocks (2016).
Leaving and Returning to Days of Our Lives
In July 2013, Alison appeared in a Hallmark Original Movie called Second Chances. She starred alongside her Days of Our Lives co-star, Greg Vaughan.
On January 20, 2014, Alison announced on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that she was leaving Days of Our Lives. She had been on the show for 21 years. She wanted to spend more time with her family. She also wanted to focus on hosting The Biggest Loser.
In July 2014, it was announced that Alison would work behind the scenes. She became a director for General Hospital. In April 2015, she shared that she would return to Days of Our Lives. This was for the show's 50th-anniversary celebrations.
In August 2015, it was announced that Alison would not be returning to The Biggest Loser.
On October 13, 2017, Alison came back to her role as Sami Brady on Days of Our Lives. She has continued to appear in the show since then.
Recent Projects
Starting in 2019, Alison played podcast host Alex McPherson. This was in the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries film series Chronicle Mysteries. The series had five movies, with the last one in 2021.
From 2015 until now, Alison has also starred in the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries film series Murder, She Baked. These movies are based on books by Joanne Fluke.
