Alissa White-Gluz (born July 31, 1985) is a Canadian singer and songwriter. She is famous for being the lead singer of the Swedish melodic death metal band Arch Enemy. She was also a founding member and lead singer of the Canadian metalcore band The Agonist.
Alissa is known for her powerful and unique voice. She can switch between two very different styles: a deep, rough-sounding style called growling, and a more traditional, melodic singing style known as clean vocals.
While she mainly sings metal music, she has also worked with bands from other genres like power metal and symphonic metal. She has performed with famous bands such as Kamelot, Delain, and Nightwish.

Alissa White-Gluz was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She has an older sister and a younger brother. Her sister, Jasamine White-Gluz, is the leader of the band No Joy.
Her family has a powerful history. Her grandparents were held in concentration camps during World War II but managed to escape. This incredible story of survival later inspired the Arch Enemy song, "First Day in Hell."
Music Career
The Agonist (2004–2014)
In 2004, Alissa started a band in Montreal with her friends Danny Marino and Chris Kells. At first, they were called "Tempest," but they later changed their name to The Agonist. As the lead singer, she recorded three albums with them.
In 2014, she was invited to become the new singer for the famous band Arch Enemy. The Agonist and Alissa parted ways, and she began her new journey with Arch Enemy.
Arch Enemy (2014–present)

Solo Music
Alissa is also working on her own music. In 2016, she signed a deal with Napalm Records to release a solo album, which will be called Alissa. She has said that the music on her solo album will sound very different from Arch Enemy's music and will feature other musicians from the band Kamelot.
Working with Other Bands
Alissa is often invited to be a "guest vocalist" on other bands' songs. This means she sings on a track but is not a permanent member of the band.
She has worked with the American band Kamelot many times. In 2012, she toured with them and even helped the band Nightwish at a show when their singer was sick. She later sang with Nightwish again at the end of their tour.
She has also recorded songs with the Dutch band Delain, appearing on their albums The Human Contradiction and Moonbathers. Over the years, she has collaborated with many other artists, including Dee Snider, Soilwork, and Carnifex.
