Allan Murray was born on May 20, 1982. He is a former professional Australian rules football player. He played for two teams in the Australian Football League (AFL). These teams were Port Adelaide and St Kilda.

Allan is part of a football family. His brother, Derek, also played for Port Adelaide. His cousin, Nathan Lovett-Murray, played for Essendon.

Allan was chosen as the 35th player in the 2000 AFL draft. He started his AFL career with Port Adelaide in 2002. His first game was against Carlton.

After the 2002 season, Allan moved to St Kilda. He joined their rookie list. Later that year, he was promoted to the main team. He played his first game for St Kilda in 2003. In that game, he scored four goals against Hawthorn.

Even with a great start, Allan did not play many games for St Kilda. He played 15 games over four seasons. He left the club at the end of the 2006 season.

While playing for Port Adelaide, Allan also played for South Adelaide. This team is in the SANFL. When he was with St Kilda, he played for their partner team, Springvale. Springvale is part of the VFL.

Allan's Local Football Success

After his AFL career, Allan Murray kept playing football. He joined the Balwyn Tigers. This team is in the Eastern Football League. He brought his experience to the team. His former Saints teammate, Brett Moyle, and coach, Mick McGuane, also joined.

Allan quickly became a star at Balwyn. In 2007, his first year, he won the 'Best and Fairest' award. This award goes to the team's best player. He helped Balwyn win four championships. He played 150 games for the club. In 2008, he helped them win their first Eastern Football League Division 1 championship. They won against Vermont in the grand final.

Helping Others: The Unity Foundation

Allan Murray also started a special charity. It is called the Unity Foundation. He created it with another Australian rules footballer, Xavier Clarke. Xavier also played for St Kilda.

The Unity Foundation helped young Indigenous people. It focused on those who were homeless or facing challenges. The programs taught young people about making good choices. The foundation worked with many professional sports players. Players from St Kilda, Essendon, and the Melbourne Storm were involved. The foundation also partnered with RMIT University. This helped athletes get formal training for the program.

Allan's Career After Football

After his football career, Allan continued to make a difference. He is a strong supporter of Indigenous Australians. He works to help them feel included and empowered.

He was a Senior Adviser to the Victorian Minister for Aboriginal Affairs. In this role, he helped shape government policies. He worked to improve outcomes for Indigenous communities. He also led Indigenous Participation and Outcomes at a big engineering company. There, he helped include traditional knowledge in large building projects.

Allan now owns his own business. It is called Cable Containment Services. This business supplies materials and services.

He has also returned to the St Kilda Football Club. He works there as the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Program Manager.
