Allensville is a small place in Berkeley County, West Virginia. It is called an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government.
Where is Allensville Located?
Allensville is found in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. This is the part of the state that sticks out to the east. The community sits on Allensville Road, which is also known as West Virginia Secondary Route 3/2.
It is located to the east of Back Creek. This creek flows into the Potomac River nearby. When two rivers or streams meet, it's called a confluence.
Natural Features and History
To the southeast of Allensville, you can find claypits. These are places where clay is dug out of the ground. They are located in North Mountain. This area was also near the old Baltimore and Ohio Railroad mainline. Railroads were very important for moving goods and people in the past.
